Following an unflattering photo during a royal visit, King Charles referred to William and Kate as “tasteless.”

For more than 11 years, Prince William and Kate Middleton have been married. Despite Kate’s challenging beginning to her royal life, the couple has gained a lot of popularity in the previous ten years. She was initially made fun of by the paparazzi press, and her phone was even hacked.

Nevertheless, Kate was able to survive thanks to her husband. King Charles was not happy, despite the fact that the couple appeared to be enjoying their time together as newlyweds as they started their life as active royals.

In fact, when his son and daughter-in-law once appeared in what he believed to be an unflattering photo, the then-Prince Charles even referred to them as “tasteless.”

The connection between Prince William and Kate Middleton dates back to their time as students. Kate has learned a lot about royal life over the years, none more so than when she became the paparazzi’s new subject to stalk.

In one other’s presence, William and Kate have consistently appeared to be extremely happy. Naturally, they have experienced ups and downs, just like any other relationship.

Kate and William’s love story

In Scotland, William and Kate attended the University of St. Andrews. Although Kate was initially reserved, the couple is claimed to have met through friends.

She said, “I actually turned red when I saw you and scooted off feeling extremely nervous about meeting you.”

“It took some time for us to get to know each other because William wasn’t around for a significant portion of the first few months,”.

William, on the other hand, claimed he had to “wrack his wits” in order to remember the couple’s initial encounter.

In the beginning, William and Kate were the best of friends. However, things got more serious as the years at university passed. According to Insider, Kate attracted William’s attention with a $40 outfit at a fashion event, and the two soon started dating.

That particular attire allegedly changed everything, according to the documentary The Day Will and Kate Got Married, which debuted in April 2021.

According to Katie Nicholl, a royal journalist for Vanity Fair, “a switch had been thrown, he immediately saw her in a different way, and I truly feel that was the turning moment in their relationship.”

They fell completely in love quickly. Despite the fact that Kate’s attire caught his attention, William noted that the couple’s dynamics shifted after they began to hang together.

The first royal appearance by Kate Middleton

The relationship “just sort of developed from then on,” as William said, “after we were friends for nearly a year first.  We simply spent more time together, had a good laugh, and discovered we had similar interests.”

At the university, William and Kate invested a lot of time getting to know one another. Both of them got degrees in 2005; Kate Middleton received one in art history and William got one in geography.

Things had starting to become more serious by this time. By the time they graduated, William and Kate had been living together for a considerable amount of time and had made their relationship known to the world.

Kate made her first public appearance with the Royal Family in 2006, a year later. She afterwards went to see William perform at the Royal Military Academy’s Sovereign’s Parade with her family. The couple temporarily split up a year later before getting back together in 2008.

It must be amazing to be a member of the Royal Family. Life appears to be simple with all the money, gorgeous homes, and expensive meals. However, it can also be incredibly difficult, as we have witnessed throughout history, such as with Princess Diana.

The British tabloid press, which is known for trespassing when they discover someone fresh to stalk, does little to help this. Sadly, Kate Middleton went through this; she was the target of enormous media curiosity across the nation.

The media labeled Kate “Waity Katie.”

She was courting a future king, after all. Of yet, in the same breath, that’s hardly a justification for the media to dig into her personal affairs.

When Sarah and William first started dating, she was barely 19 years old, but the media didn’t care. Kate was referred to as “a commoner” despite coming from a middle-class family and having parents who made millions through their business.

Kate was referred to as “Waity Katie” and “Lazy Katie” before the pair announced their engagement in 2010. Officials at Buckingham Palace claim that it was an allusion to Middleton’s recent decision to resign from her position in order to “prepare for her future life.”

What it must be like to be ready for a life as a monarch is only imaginable. Saying that there has likely never been a more broad change in lifestyle—and publicity—in the history of the globe is not an overstatement. But Kate Middleton succeeded with the aid of “The Firm” and William.

Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal authority, claims that William made sure to help Kate get ready for life as a royal in private.

“It was entirely reasonable under the circumstances for Kate and William to get to know one other for as long as they believed was suitable.  However, reading those headlines can be upsetting and undoubtedly stressful,” he remarked.

Invasion of the Princess’ privacy was most heinously exposed in 2013. Clive Goodman, a former royal editor for the infamous newspaper News of the World, admitted to hacking Kate Middleton’s phone 155 times starting so over 2005 Christmas break.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Goodman hacked her voicemails, and he also claimed to have broken into the phones of Prince William 35 times and Prince Harry nine times.

Kate is a “figure of increasing importance surrounding the royal family,” the former editor told the jury. There were talks about her getting married, relocating, and starting a family. Around the royal family, she had begun to enjoy royal status.

“I can’t say I’m even the least bit proud of this.”  Goodman remarked in court, “I don’t want people to believe I’m not ashamed.”

After they split up in 2006, Kate and William’s relationship improved. They rekindled their romance and won over the public’s admiration. The couple then made the next move in 2010.

William got down on one knee during a trip to Kenya. According to reports, the prince kept a ring in his bag for three weeks and never took it out. Even though Kate Middleton had anticipated William’s proposal, she nevertheless found it to be a “complete shock.”

Kate said it was incredibly romantic.

The ring was remarkable and obviously appropriate for a future queen or queen consort because it belonged to Princess Diana, William’s mother. William and Kate exchanged vows in Westminster Abbey in London on April 29, 2011.

If Kate will hold the title of Queen Consort or Queen, only time will tell. However, Kate is probably going to follow Camilla’s lead as she will receive the title during King Charles’ coronation.

William and Kate have participated in countless royal engagements throughout the years, in addition to carrying out several other obligations.

It’s crucial to always present your best self, be kind, and treat everyone with respect as the future King and Queen (or Queen Consort).

After Kate and William’s first royal tour, Charles was unhappy with them.

Perhaps, though, the more contemporary royals are different from the previous generation. And this may be the reason why Prince Charles, the King at the time, was rumored to have been upset with William and Kate for doing something on their first royal tour together.

William and Kate immediately started performing their royal obligations after getting married. Their first trip abroad as a married couple and as a royal couple was a 10-day trip to the US and Canada.

Everywhere they went, people welcomed the newlyweds with open arms. The response to William and Kate’s vacation, though, was not as enthusiastic in England.

Sally Bedell Smith, a royal author, claims that during the trip, the pair adopted a more relaxed attitude and posed for certain pictures that “more than a little annoyed” Charles.

She said that Charles believed William and Kate’s tour to the US and Canada had too many “tasteless” photo opportunities in her book, Prince Charles: The Passions and Paradoxes of an Improbable Life.

In addition, the future King believed they were acting too much like a “camera-friendly couple” and treating the trip more like a vacation than a business trip.

Charles and William allegedly had a rivalry.

How did Kate and William act, then? Well, in one image, the duo was clad in cowboy hats. It was done in recognition of hitting the button that started the annual rodeo festival known as the Calgary Stampede in Calgary, Alberta.

Phil Dampier, a royal author, claims that Charles and William’s rivalry arose soon after the voyage.

“There weren’t many people present when Charles and Camilla arrived in Canada two years ago. They are not particularly glamorous and are in their 60s,” he said.

Charles felt eclipsed by Diana, and it appears that he feels the same way about their son now. Some folks could assume he’s envious. Charles would feel disregarded as soon as William was married, I’ve always thought.
