Singapore has not reopened the KTV lounge and club and authorities

Singapore reported the number of local Coronavirus cases in 10 months on Wednesday after discovering a cluster between the hostess and KTV Karaoke Lounge customers from 56 new community infections. 42 were associated with KTV outbreaks, the Ministry of Health said.

The ministry has investigated the infection between what he said was the hostess Vietnam who often visited the KTV Lounge or club and had offered a free Covid-19 test to anyone potentially open. The first case was a Vietnamese woman seeking medical assistance on Sundays, local media reported.

Singapore has not reopened the KTV lounge and club, and authorities say places where the virus spread operates as food and beverage outlets. Singapore police said in a statement that they had arrested 20 women on Wednesday, among them South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, because of alleged representative activities at KTV Lounge.

The police also plan to improve inspection and enforcement of such activities, the statement said. Health Minister Ong Ye Kung has warned the police will take action against violators. “Any outlet that provides hostess services, dice games, and all the very close contacts, have never been permitted,” he told local media, according to CNA.

“So for this now it has troubled (and) disappointing.” Ong said there were no plans to reverse restrictions that had just loosened because of the cluster, quoting progress in vaccination.

Among those infected is also a cruise passenger who was hospitalized on Wednesday. Nearly 3,000 passengers and crew were locked up to their cruise cabin, waiting for the Covid-19 test. Singapore has dealt quickly with most of the coronavirus outbreaks and impose restrictions targeted in May, which aims to slow down the distribution of Delta variants.
